A summer art exhibition has opened at Taikoo Hui Guangzhou, inviting visitors to step inside an installation that turns the shopping mall's atrium into an imagined underwater world.

The show marks the Asian debut of "PUL Urban Pool" by Spanish studio Meii_Estudio. Titled "Infinite Pool," it was created jointly with Mexican visual artist José Cohen.
The two set out to build what they call a "folded ocean" within the confines of a mall.

The installation centers on Möbius-loop structures dotted with navy blue spheres. The floor is finished to mimic still water, offering a cool contrast to the summer heat outside.

The show draws on the Eastern idea that infinity can be found within limits, and it asks visitors to do more than look. They are encouraged to touch and push the blue spheres, which roll freely and send ripples across the space.
Overhead, Cohen suspends digital projections that abstract the movements of swimming and diving into flowing wave forms. The physical installation and the digital visuals work together to evoke the feel of a real swimming pool.
The exhibition is on view at the central atrium on Level M of Taikoo Hui Guangzhou through July 30. Admission is free.
