On August 5, 2025, "Beyond Objects: The Poetics and Reflections of Lacquer Art" opened at the Guangdong Museum of Art (BAI'ETAN) in Guangzhou.
As a selected project of the 2024-2025 Guangdong Museum of Art Young Curators Support Program, the exhibition focuses on the inheritance and innovation of lacquer art. It showcases the diverse possibilities of contemporary lacquer art through the works of five practitioners—Tang Mingxiu, Xie Zhen, Zhang Wenzhi, Guo Xiaoyi, and Shi Pengcheng.
The Guangdong Museum of Art has long been committed to nurturing young artists and curators and will continue to enhance its efforts in line with academic orientations, creating a dialogue platform with both academic depth and innovative vitality for emerging art practitioners.
