Regarded as a pioneer of Chinese video art, Zhang Peili's career is closely linked to China's technological development. He has consistently explored the evolving relationship between humans and machines. From his landmark 1988 video 30x30 to recent AI-inspired projects, Zhang examines the intersection of daily life, rules, and technological systems with critical reflection and subtle humor.
Curated by Tao Hanchen, The Remaining Poetic is Zhang's first major solo exhibition in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA), spanning over thirty years of work. The exhibition features mechanical installations, video, multimedia interactions, and original sketches. Visitors are invited to explore immersive works that reflect how technology shapes daily life.
