As temperatures hit 38°C, Shaoguan water parks offer a weekend-long escape

With daytime highs across northern Guangdong pushing toward 38°C, water parks in and around Shaoguan are drawing visitors looking to spend a full day cooling off. Here are some of the main options.

Yunmen Mountain Water Park (云门山水上乐园): Caribbean-themed, full-day thrills

As the largest water park in the Shaoguan area, Yunmen Mountain is built around a Caribbean theme and offers more than a dozen attractions. These include a storm-surge pool, a giant funnel slide, rainbow slides, a wave pool, a children's splash zone, and a near-vertical slide, catering to families with young children and adults looking for an adrenaline rush.

Shaoguan Longtai Wengshanyuan Hot Spring City (龙泰翁山源温泉酒店): naval battle-themed splash park

This site pairs hot spring facilities with a 2,000-square-meter wave pool that can accommodate more than 1,000 people. The pool turns into a dance floor for water electronic music parties, with DJs and MCs leading the crowd. Three stunt shows are staged each day, and fireworks cap off every night. The park also runs a water carnival under a "sea battle" theme.

LN Dongfang Hot Spring Hotel Ruyuan (蓝山源温泉度假区): infinity pool and mountain views

The main draw is a 50-meter infinity pool merging seamlessly with surrounding lake and mountains. The setting attracts couples and groups looking for sunrise or sunset swims, and the pool has become a popular photo spot.

Richwood Forest Hotspring Resort (丹霞丰源温泉酒店): Venetian-style swimming lanes

Designed as a Huizhou-style waterside village with Venetian design touches, the resort offers several kilometers of interconnected water channels dotted with inflatable banana boats, flamingo floats, and kayaks. A 100-meter rainbow slide adds a faster-paced option. This resort is geared toward graduation trips and group getaways.

Shaoguan Xinfeng Yuntianhai Hot Spring Resort (云天海温泉原始森林度假村): spring-fed pools amid dense forest

Set within 320 hectares of primeval forest, the resort runs a water park fed by cool mountain spring water. The setting offers shade and lower crowd density than open-air parks, making it a quieter alternative.

Spring Valley Rafting Resort (南雄泉水谷): canyon rafting and local food

For those prioritizing rafting, Nanxiong Spring Valley Rafting Resort offers a 3.8-kilometer route through a natural valley with a vertical drop of nearly 200 meters. The course switches between fast rapids and gentle waters. On land, the site also features a children's water park, a camping ground, barbecue facilities, and a restaurant serving local specialties including Nanxiong goose.
