2026 Guangdong Qingyuan Rafting Culture and Tourism Season to kick off

The 2026 Guangdong Qingyuan Rafting Culture and Tourism Season will kick off on the morning of June 6 at Gulong Gorge Scenic Area (古龙峡景区), featuring two major international competitions: the 2026 International Rafting Open (Qingyuan, China) on June 6 and the 2026 China Qingyuan Canyoning & Rafting Competition on June 9.

Qingyuan, known as China's "Hometown of Rafting," is the first city in the country awarded to receive the title from the General Administration of Sport of China. Endowed with rich rafting resources, the city has become Guangdong's leading destination for the sport. Since 2005, Qingyuan has continued to host international, national, and provincial rafting events, integrating competitive sports, eco-tourism, and local culture.

This year's season will feature upgraded offerings, including:

1. Ultimate Rafting, an original theme song created by local musicians, will debut at the opening ceremony.

2. Souvenirs featuring Qingyuan's natural scenery and summer highlights.

3. Rafting packages that combine sightseeing, rural leisure, cultural experiences, and family-friendly activities.

4. Promotions showcasing regional attractions.

5. Themed events at five major rafting scenic spots, including pirate-themed parties, canyon markets, dual-platform diving challenges, and water-based electronic music carnivals.

The season aims to use sports as a bridge for exchanges, attracting athletes and visitors to experience Qingyuan's canyon rapids, local culture, and summer tourism appeal.
