At the East Gate Square of Seven Star Crags in Zhaoqing's Xinghu Scenic Area, a single crape myrtle tree has burst into full bloom this July, drawing a steady stream of visitors. Standing alone by the lake with the Seven Star Crags as its backdrop, the old tree spreads its gnarled branches under dense clusters of blossoms that shift from pale pink to fuchsia. Its petals, as thin as cicada wings and naturally creased, gather into soft clouds of color. When the breeze passes through, the blossoms tremble gently, scattering dappled shadows across the stone path below.

The tree has become a popular photo spot. Visitors in long dresses pose beneath the canopy or sit under the branches, framing themselves against the karst peaks and still water behind them. Beyond the blossoms, the lake reflects the seven karst peaks and a multi-arched stone bridge, bringing together dark green hills, clear water, blossoms, and weathered rocks into a single frame. Together, these elements turn a single tree into a summer scene worth pausing for.
