Guangzhou's bald cypresses usher in prime viewing season, painting city in warm winter hues

As temperatures drop, the iconic bald cypress trees across Guangzhou are transforming, offering residents and visitors a spectacular seasonal display. From lush green, their foliage is gradually shifting through shades of yellow and orange to deep russet and bronze, creating a "caramel-colored winter" for the city.

This natural spectacle, now entering its peak, is drawing crowds to several key locations renowned for their breathtaking landscapes.

Top viewing spots

Yunxi Botanical Garden: Nestled at the foot of Baiyun Mountain, the garden is currently at the heart of this visual feast. Popular photo spots include the Huanxi Boardwalk, allowing immersive walks through the colorful woods, and the Yun Bridge, which offers a panoramic, painting-like view of the forest.

South China National Botanical Garden: The bald cypresses here have also begun their color transformation. Different sections of the garden will soon showcase a stunning spectrum of layered autumn colors.

Luhu Park: While the color change is still progressing, the park is expected to become a popular check-in spot as the "caramel" tones deepen in the coming weeks.

Dafu Mountain Forest Park (Panyu): A "warm winter fashion show" is underway as the trees transition from emerald green to golden yellow and orange-red.

Huangpodong Reservoir: Located within the Mingzhulou Scenic Area of Baiyun Mountain, the bald cypresses here have already entered their prime viewing period.

The beauty of these transforming trees has gained significant attention on social media, attracting citizens, photography enthusiasts, and families alike. People are seen strolling through the golden-hued breezes, capturing the moment with cameras, or simply sitting by bridges enjoying the serene view.
