The micro-variety show Country Road, Global Home（外国友人看万村）is already on air. Premiered on September 19, the show invites viewers to see rural China through the eyes of international students from Guangdong University of Foreign Studies. Featuring participants from over 30 countries—including the U.S., Brazil, Egypt, Thailand, and Germany—the series takes them deep into Guangdong's Qingxin for hands-on experiences that showcase the beauty and culture of China's countryside.
Blending travel, culture, and reality show elements, the series allows audiences to explore Qingxin's scenic towns alongside its international visitors. From Taihe and Shantang to Heyun and Jintan, the students discover local crafts, martial arts, and sustainable farming practices, sharing their reactions and stories along the way.
"I love the fresh air and the friendly people here," says Yilmaz Tuba Nur from Turkey. Boudewijn Pieter from the Netherlands adds, "Kung fu movements carry so much Eastern wisdom," after learning martial arts in Xiajing Village. Jorgie from Papua New Guinea says, "The countryside is so beautiful—green mountains and clear waters. I'll definitely recommend it to friends and family."
The show also highlights local traditions, from birdcage making in Heyun Town to exploring modern agricultural practices in Qingyuan. Students gain hands-on experience, bringing their favorite finds back home and sharing them with their own communities.
With ten episodes in both Chinese and English, the series is available on YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Douyin, and GDUFS's WeChat channels.
