A new 40,000-square-metre rural tourism complex in Yangjiang, Guangdong Province, has been selected as one of the province's latest Guangdong New Trends tourism and cultural consumption destinations.
Sinong Garden (思侬园), located along the Nalong River greenway in Shilun Village, Dongcheng Town, Yangdong District, combines the area's natural landscape with cafés, ecological fishing, an arts space, pottery workshops, local food, a forest library and educational activities. It has been designed as a destination where visitors can eat, relax, take part in activities and spend time in a rural setting.
Rather than being developed as a conventional scenic attraction or farmhouse leisure site, the project brings together agriculture, culture, tourism and education, with activities ranging from coffee and outdoor cooking to exhibitions, pottery, tea gatherings, camping and fishing.
The complex also incorporates local cultural and creative elements. Its arts space hosts exhibitions and forums featuring young local artists, while visitors to the pottery centre can make and take home their own works. An open-air kitchen offers hands-on cooking using local ingredients.
More attractions are planned, including fruit picking, pet interaction, rural markets, wood-fired bread and intangible cultural heritage experiences. The organisers also plan to stage music and arts festivals, camping events and food and coffee festivals as part of an effort to expand the destination's appeal.
