Vibrant celebrations kick off New Year in Jieyang

During the 2026 New Year and Spring Festival period, Jieyang will roll out more than 1,000 cultural events, supported by consumption vouchers, accommodation discounts, and traffic optimization—creating an enjoyable visitor experience while showcasing the city's rich historical charm.

More than 200 intangible cultural heritage performances are scheduled, including a grand Yingge Dance showcase on the evening of January 1 at Jieyang Tower Square, featuring 16 troupes and nearly 1,000 performers. The program also includes folk parades with dragon and lion dances, festive galas, and the newly opened Jieyang Cultural Exhibition Center.

Chaoshan cuisine remains a highlight. Ahead of the Spring Festival, the city will launch the "Taste of Jieyang" WeChat mini-program (寻味揭阳, pinyin: xun wei jie yang), offering a curated guide to time-honored eateries, heritage foods, and popular restaurants—all enhanced by consumption vouchers for an authentic yet affordable dining experience.

Visitors can choose from star-rated hotels or characteristic homestays converted from traditional "Si Dian Jin" (a classic four-room residential layout) dwellings, with accommodation vouchers providing a 20% discount during designated periods.

To ensure convenient travel, free or low-cost parking will be available around attractions and transport hubs, while traffic controls and detour guidance will facilitate smooth journeys in Rongcheng District.

Everything is set for your visit. Step into Jieyang this New Year and Spring Festival, and immerse yourself in the rich traditions and vibrant spirit of this thousand-year-old city!
