Wuchuan's Bomao Bay listed as national-level beautiful bay

China's Ministry of Ecology and Environment released the fourth batch of "Outstanding Beautiful Bay" and "Beautiful Bay" designations, with Bomao Bay in Wuchuan, Zhanjiang, selected as a national-level "Beautiful Bay" in late December 2025. This marks the first sea area in Wuchuan to receive this honor.

Bomao Bay (博茂港湾) lies along Wuchuan's sweeping coastline, covering a marine area of 398.81 square kilometers with 64.78 kilometers of shoreline. It features coastal wonders described as "nine bays within five kilometers, each with its own unique view." Wuyang Town—the ancestral home of renowned imperial examination scholars—is nestled within the bay, where the sea and city have long been intertwined, and past and present quietly converge.

In recent years, Wuchuan has focused on the governance framework of "cleaning, embracing, and revitalizing the sea," steadily building an ecological conservation system for Bomao Bay and creating a sustainable development model that balances ecological protection with economic growth.
