Escape to an ancient alien path in Qingyuan

If you are tired of the repetitive green mountains and clear waters of traditional hiking, there is a hidden corner in Qingyuan City, Guangdong Province, that feels like it belongs on another planet.

Known as the Meiziping Ancient Path (清远梅子坪古道), this thousand-year-old route is often called the Guangdong version of Moshi Park for its desolate, otherworldly atmosphere.

The allure of Meiziping lies in its stark contrast to the modern world. Here, you won't find bustling crowds or commercial stalls. Instead, you are greeted by striking black Karst stone forests and ancient villages that seem forgotten by time. Walking alone among these jagged rocks and crumbling stone walls, hikers can experience a profound sense of wilderness and solitude.

The circular hiking route is nine kilometers long, making it accessible for both seasoned hikers and families seeking a unique weekend escape. Starting from Yaogeng Village (瑶耕村), the trail involves a moderate 400-meter ascent and takes about four to five hours to complete at a leisurely pace. Here are the major points of the loop:

Yaogeng Village (瑶耕村) (Start)→ Fenglin Village (枫林村)→ Shicao (石槽)→ Denggong Village Stone Steps (邓公村石梯)→ Meiziping (梅子坪)→ Gaofeng Village (高峰村)→ Fenglin Village (枫林村)→ Yaogeng Village (End)

Travel tips:

 · Please wear non-slip hiking boots, as the stone surfaces can be slippery.

 · There are no commercial supply points. Please bring sufficient water and food.

 · To preserve this pristine land, always carry out your trash and follow "Leave No Trace" principles.
