The riverside area of Tangchao Maker Community (糖巢创客社区) in Heyuan City, Guangdong Province, buzzed with energy on August 8 as the "Tongxinji (同心集)" night market series opened. Nearly 1,000 residents and visitors turned out for pop music performances, village basketball games and local food stalls.
The series will run for about three weeks, with a rock music festival on August 15 and a folk music session on August 22.
Centered on supporting local youth and rural entrepreneurship, the launch event featured a flag presentation ceremony for four youth business alliances specializing in catering, agricultural specialties, wellness and new media. Local food brands and agricultural products filled the food fairs, alongside screenings of AI-generated short dramas made by local teams.
On the riverside lawn, live pop music carried across the water, basketball games drew cheers from spectators, and food stalls served regional dishes. Local authorities said the series aims to make use of idle space and bring together agriculture, culture and tourism.
