Guangzhou's Nansha unveils "Top 10 new cultural tourism consumption hotspots"

Guangzhou's Nansha District has officially unveiled its "Top 10 new cultural tourism consumption hotspots," showcasing a diverse range of attractions that blend cross-border travel, water sports, ecological wonders, and digital entertainment.

The list reflects Nansha's ambition to create a comprehensive consumption map covering dining, accommodation, transport, sightseeing, shopping, and entertainment.

1. Guangzhou Nansha International Cruise Home Port

As one of Asia's largest cruise homeport complexes, the Guangzhou Nansha International Cruise Home Port, together with the CCLAND seafront retail complex, offers both outbound and inbound duty-free shopping. The site integrates cruise travel with cross-border consumption.

2. Hengli international waterfront vitality zone

A 168-meter-high Ferris wheel is currently under construction at the tip of Hengli Island. Meanwhile, the "Golden Coast" has already opened to visitors, offering water activities such as "water supercars," flyboarding, and karting boats. The area also features a riverside promenade ideal for sunset views.

3. Nansha's most scenic cycling corridor

The route connects Huangshanlu Forest Park with the "20-km Most Beautiful Coastline" – also known as Nansha's "Lovers' Road." Cyclists can ride from the foothills to the summit for panoramic views of Nansha and the Lingdingyang estuary, before descending toward the coastal Huigu Super Embankment. The Lavelo Go cycling project is now operational here.

4. Performing arts & events hub of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA)

This hub, which is centered around a "one stadium, two gymnasiums" complex, has already hosted top artists and major sporting events. The Orange Sky Cinema LIVERSE, China's first tech-intelligent LiveHouse, will open in Zhujiang Subdistrict in October 2026, accommodating 3,000 standing guests.

5. Jiaomen River technology & culture experience zone

Alongside an 800-meter rose garden promenade, visitors can take autonomous sightseeing boats on night cruises. The adjacent "Greater Bay Area Intangible Cultural Heritage Food Zone" serves local specialties, while regular garden concerts and music parties attract young night crowds.

6. Dongchong waterborne culture immersion block

This historic waterfront district features Qing-era architecture, traditional Xiangyunsha (Gambiered Guangdong Silk) craftsmanship, and local snacks like "Danjia Chengfen" (Tanka Steamed Rice Cake). Visitors can enjoy evening boat rides under lantern-lit bridges. Water wedding performances take place during holidays. The area recorded over 290,000 visits during this year's Spring Festival.

7. International water sports zone (to open in July 2026)

This new zone in Lanhe Town will offer professional coaching for paddle boarding, kayaking, and dragon boating, with no prior swimming skills required.

8. GBA digital cultural tourism & production center

This center, located at the ULTRA GROUP cultural industrial park in Huangge Town, offers "one-day actor" experiences that include scriptwriting, makeup, and filming. Visitors can also watch live-streamed sales and short drama productions.

9. GBA international eco-exploration zone

The zone comprises the Greater Bay Area Central Wetland Park, approximately 10,000 mu (over 666.6 hectares) with nearly 200 hectares of mangroves and over 185 bird species, as well as the adjacent Nansha Bird Park, where visitors can interact with pelicans and emus on boardwalks. Activities include boat tours, paddleboarding, and overnight wetland stays.

10. GBA cultural, sports, and exhibition integration demonstration zone

This zone, centered on the Nansha International Convention & Exhibition Center, includes exhibitions, performances, sports events, and retail. A football park hosts amateur matches, and a miniature train offers night rides for families.
