Grandview Mall in Guangzhou, the provincial capital of Guangdong Province, officially kicked off its summer campaign with a spectacular "thousand-person anime carnival" on July 10.

More than 1,000 events to spice up summer
The mass anime carnival on the evening of July 10 marked the opening of Grandview Mall's summer program.
Popular anime and game characters appeared throughout the event, turning the mall into a fantasy world for visitors.
Performers first staged song-and-dance acts outdoors, followed by a parade featuring more than 1,000 cosplayers. Organized into more than 20 groups, they paraded through the mall in a lively "anime-themed" procession, posing for photos and interacting with visitors up close.
That same night, multiple venues inside Grandview Mall hosted stage plays, dance performances, magic shows, and several rounds of lucky draws with surprise prizes, offering visitors an immersive summer fantasy experience.
The anime carnival will run through August 31, covering the entire summer break, with more than 100 IPs, more than 1,000 performances, and millions of yuan in giveaways. It aims to become one of South China's largest public anime extravaganzas.
Throughout the summer, Grandview Mall will also host non-stop themed stage shows and interactive events, with new activities refreshed weekly.
Highlights include the Guangzhou premiere of a popular anime character exhibition, a JoJo's Bizarre Adventure pop-up, and a limited-time Digimon pop-up.
Visitors can also enjoy rock concerts, dance competitions, racing games, and anime markets. At Grandview Aquarium, daily magic interactions and mythological underwater performances will be staged. The mall's other in-house venues will also feature an exhibition on ancient Chinese royal bronze swords, penguin parades, and regular educational programs on animals and plants.
South will continue to cover major shopping district events in Guangzhou throughout the summer, rolling out more exclusive reader giveaways, including tickets, free drinks, and food treats in the coming weeks.
