Recently, four modern-themed short dramas have begun filming in Dianbai District, Maoming City. All four productions are being shot at Danjia Xu (a fishing village cultural block) on Nanhai Island, showcasing how the island's stunning coastal scenery and the block's unique fishing village charm provide vivid inspiration for short drama creation.

Behind the surge in short drama production lies the dual driving force of policy guidance and market demand. Since the start of this year, local authorities have seized the industrial opportunity by facilitating collaboration between tourism service departments and short drama production teams to provide comprehensive support—from location coordination to logistics guarantees.

In recent years, Maoming has also developed supporting facilities such as a leather shoe street, themed homestays, and photography bases, further enriching the diverse shooting locations available for short drama production.
Leaked behind-the-scenes footage of the dramas showcases characters listening to the waves at Yanjing Ridge, wandering through Danjia Xu, and savoring seafood at local restaurants. Through these scenes, the natural beauty of Nanhai Island's mountains and seas, as well as its local customs, have reached a wider audience.
