Rare double-flower branching lotus emerges at Guangzhou's Lotus Hill

As summer draws to a close, the lotus-viewing season at Lotus Hill Resort (莲花山旅游区) in Panyu, Guangzhou, is also winding down. But a rare naturally mutated lotus has emerged, lending a special touch to the final days of the season.

Based on authoritative identification, the plant has been officially named "Double-Flower Branching Lotus" (双花分枝莲). It is a rare mutation of the twin-flower lotus (双花并蒂莲). In this unique variant, the flower stalk branches into two, with a bloom emerging from each branch.

The mutation occurs naturally and randomly and cannot be artificially induced, stably inherited or reproduced on a large scale. Each occurrence is therefore extremely rare and unique, with both ornamental and scientific value.

The "Double-Flower Branching Lotus" is now at a crucial stage of bud development. The attraction's conservation team will continue to provide dedicated care and monitor its growth and flowering. Visitors are welcome to admire this rare natural wonder.
