The 4th Hengqin Lotus Festival opened in the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin on June 26 and will run until July 10, featuring a newly launched lotus night-viewing zone and lantern-riddle markets that offer visitors diverse day-and-night garden experiences.

Held at the roughly 45,000-square-meter Lotus Garden, the festival showcases 90 varieties of lotus flowers and 30 types of water lilies. The garden also displays lotus-themed cultural and creative artworks, including illustrations by young Macao designers and art installations co-created by student creators from Hengqin and Macao, alongside more than 70 themed activities, including lotus bazaars, handicraft stalls, photography contests, and guided botanical tours.

The newly launched lotus night-viewing zone is lit by hundreds of lanterns from dusk to 9 p.m. Visitors can solve riddles on lotus culture, classic poems, and Hengqin-Macao stories to collect stamps and exchange them for small gifts.

To strengthen cross-city ties, the festival also has a sub-venue in Macao. Macao residents can sign up for selected study tours and guided tours via the Macao One Account platform and the official website of the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) of the Government of the Macao Special Administrative Region.

Now in its fourth edition, the festival has drawn more than 150,000 visitors in total throughout all past events. Drawing on shared resources between Hengqin and Macao, it has evolved into a landmark summer cultural tourism event that embodies the integration of the two regions.
