Typhoon Narra makes second landfall in Zhanjiang, bringing more rain to Guangdong

Typhoon Narra, the 19th typhoon of the year, made its second landfall along the coast of Maichen Town in Xuwen County, Zhanjiang, Guangdong, in the early hours of August 26. At landfall, it was a tropical storm with maximum winds of Force 8 on the Beaufort scale. Narra is expected to move northeastward and gradually weaken.

Rain will continue across Guangdong on August 26. Zhanjiang and Maoming will see heavy rain, with torrential or extremely heavy rain possible in some areas. Yangjiang, Yunfu, Qingyuan and parts of central and western Guangdong will see moderate to heavy rain, with localized torrential rain possible. Other areas will see thunderstorms.

Typhoon, rainstorm and thunderstorm warnings remain in effect in parts of Guangdong. Significant rainfall is expected to continue over the next two days, and strong gusts may affect some coastal areas. Residents are advised to stay alert for heavy rain, lightning and strong winds when traveling.

Meanwhile, Typhoon Saudel, the 18th typhoon of the year, is also expected to affect Guangdong. As of the morning of August 26, Saudel was about 720 kilometers east of the Zhejiang-Fujian border and was forecast to continue moving northwestward. Rainfall may increase in eastern Guangdong from August 28.

Weather Forecast

August 26: Heavy rain will affect Zhanjiang and Maoming, with localized torrential or extremely heavy rain possible. Yangjiang, Yunfu, Qingyuan and central and western parts of the Pearl River Delta will see moderate to heavy rain, with localized torrential rain possible. Other areas will see thunderstorms.

August 27: Central and western Guangdong will see thunderstorms, with localized heavy rain possible. Scattered thunderstorms are expected elsewhere.

August 28: Meizhou and eastern Guangdong will see thunderstorms, with localized heavy or torrential rain possible. Other areas will be mainly cloudy, with scattered thunderstorms.
