Guangdong is bracing for increased rainfall and gusty winds from March 27, with localized heavy rain and short-term gales expected, while Guangzhou is on track to record its earliest summer onset since 1961.

According to the Guangdong Meteorological Service, precipitation will become more frequent starting March 27. On that day, northern Guangdong, the central-northern Pearl River Delta, and eastern Guangdong are forecast to experience intermittent rain with localized heavy downpours, accompanied by short bursts of heavy rainfall and winds of force 6 to 8 (up to gale force 8). The rest of the province will see cloudy to overcast skies with isolated light rain.
Temperatures will vary across the region. On March 25, highs will range from 22°C to 25°C in northern Shaoguan and Qingyuan, 28°C to 30°C in southern parts, and 25°C to 28°C elsewhere. On March 26, highs will reach 23°C to 26°C in eastern Guangdong, Meizhou, and northern Shaoguan and Qingyuan, while most other areas will see highs between 27°C and 30°C. On March 27, highs in northern Guangdong are expected to be 24°C to 27°C, with other areas reaching 27°C to 30°C. Morning fog and light mist will be common across much of the province over the coming days.
In Guangzhou, the city is experiencing an early transition to summer. The five-day moving average temperature exceeded 22°C for the first time on March 22. If the moving average remains above 22°C from March 24 to 27, summer will be recorded as having begun on March 19—the earliest summer onset since 1961.
According to China's climate season division standard, summer is defined as beginning on the first day when the daily average temperature reaches at least 22°C, following five consecutive days with a five-day moving average temperature of 22°C or above. Guangzhou's daily average temperature on March 19 was 22.5°C.
Temperatures in Guangzhou are expected to remain between 21°C and 29°C over the coming week. The Guangzhou Meteorological Observatory forecasts cloudy to overcast skies with light fog in the mornings and evenings from March 25 to 26, with temperatures ranging from 20°C to 29°C. Weather conditions are expected to become increasingly unstable from March 27 onward.
