Guangzhou ensures ample supplies as Typhoon Ragasa approaches, warns against overstocking

Guangzhou has reassured residents that basic living necessities are sufficiently stocked and advised against overstocking supplies as the city faces the upcoming Typhoon Ragasa, according to a public advisory issued by the Guangzhou Municipal Commerce Bureau on the evening of September 22.

According to meteorological authorities, Typhoon Ragasa (Super Typhoon), the 18th typhoon of the year, will begin impacting Guangzhou on September 23, bringing severe winds and torrential to extremely torrential rain, posing a serious challenge to the city's defenses.

To address the typhoon, the Guangzhou Municipal Commerce Bureau has coordinated with key business associations, large supermarkets, and food markets to ensure adequate supplies for the public during the storm's impact.

Currently, over 470 food markets and more than 1,000 supermarket outlets, including major chains like CR Vanguard and GrandBuy Department Store, are operating normally. These stores have increased their inventories of vegetables, meat, and other essential goods to two to three times the usual amount. Logistics teams have also been organized to plan distribution routes for severe weather conditions, ensuring uninterrupted supply delivery for the public.

The city's commodity supply channels remain smooth, with stable prices and commercial inventories sufficient to meet daily demand during the typhoon period, as stated in the public advisory issued by the Guangzhou Municipal Commerce Bureau.

Residents are encouraged to purchase based on actual needs. Price gouging is strictly prohibited.

Citizens are invited to participate in market supervision, as noted by the advisory. If any illegal activities such as hoarding or price manipulation are found, residents can report them immediately by calling the 12345 hotline.
