Severe storms and convection to hit Guangdong

Guangdong's weather has become highly unstable recently. According to the provincial meteorological department, heavy rain and severe convection—including lightning and gale-force winds (around level 8)—are expected to hit multiple regions.

Tonight (April 17):

Moderate to heavy rain with localized storms is expected in southern Shaoguan and Qingyuan, northern Heyuan, most of the Pearl River Delta, and cities in western Guangdong. It is expected that short-term gales of around level 8 will occur during these thunderstorms. Maximum temperatures will range from 23°C to 27°C in Shaoguan, Qingyuan, Heyuan, and the northern Pearl River Delta, while the rest of the province will see highs between 28°C and 32°C.

April 18–19: 

While northern Guangdong will see showers turn to cloudy skies, other regions will continue to experience scattered thundershowers and localized heavy rain. Coastal cities in western Guangdong will experience highs of 27°C to 30°C, with the rest of the region reaching 29°C to 32°C.
