Guangdong is bracing for heavy downpours and severe weather as the Qingming Festival holiday begins. According to the latest forecasts, the first two days of the holiday will see significant rainfall in Guangzhou, with conditions expected to ease starting April 6.
The Guangdong Provincial Meteorological Observatory has also issued warnings for other parts of the province. On April 4, southern cities and counties will experience moderate to heavy rainfall, with localized torrential or extreme downpours. Thunderstorms are expected to bring gales of force 8 to 10 (possibly reaching force 11 in some areas), short burst of intense rainfall, and small hail.

From April 5 to 6, northern Guangdong and the Pearl River Delta region will face heavy to severe rain, with localized extreme downpours. Some areas may also experience gales of force 8 to 10 and short-term intense rainfall.
Detailed forecast for Guangdong:
- April 4: Heavy rain in the south, with thunderstorms and gales; cloudy to overcast with showers elsewhere. Highs: 29–31°C in western Guangdong, 24–28°C in other areas.
- April 5: Heavy to severe rain in northern Guangdong and the Pearl River Delta, with thunderstorms and gales. Showers elsewhere. Highs: 31–34°C in the Leizhou Peninsula, 28–30°C in western Guangdong, 22–24°C in the east, 25–27°C in other regions.
- April 6: Heavy to severe rain in parts of northern Guangdong; mostly cloudy with scattered showers elsewhere. Highs: 34–36°C in the Leizhou Peninsula, 30–33°C in the western and western Pearl River Delta, 26–29°C in the rest of the province.
The Guangzhou Meteorological Observatory predicts that on April 4, the city will experience moderate to heavy rainfall, with localized torrential downpours. On April 5, the weather will intensify further, bringing heavy to severe rain, along with thunderstorms, short-term heavy rainfall, gales of force 8 to 10, and even localized hail. By the day of April 6, precipitation is expected to gradually weaken.
