Warm days at around 27°C continue with light morning fog in Guangzhou

Guangzhou is set to experience a stretch of consistently warm weather, with maximum temperatures holding steady at around 27°C over the next few days, according to the latest forecast from local meteorological authorities.

From March 19 onwards, the city will see cloudy to overcast conditions with light morning fog and occasional light rain. Minimum temperatures are expected to gradually rise to around 19°C.

Due to the infiltration of weak cold air, the northern counties of Guangdong experienced a slight temperature drop on Thursday morning, while temperatures in other areas remained stable or rose slightly.

Forecast for March 20-21:

Northern areas (Shaoguan, Qingyuan, northern Zhaoqing): Cloudy to overcast with light rain.

Rest of the province: Cloudy, with isolated light rain possible.

Expected low temperatures:

Northern Guangdong: 15–17°C

Coastal areas near the Pearl River Estuary and western Guangdong: 21–23°C

Other regions: 17–21°C

March 19: Cloudy to overcast with isolated light rain and light fog in the morning and evening; temperatures ranging from 17°C to 27°C.

March 20: Cloudy to overcast with isolated light rain and light fog in the morning and evening; temperatures ranging from 19°C to 27°C.

March 21: Cloudy to overcast with isolated light rain and light fog in the morning and evening; temperatures ranging from 19°C to 27°C.

Despite the daytime heat, Guangzhou has not yet officially entered summer. As explained by the Guangzhou weather authorities, the meteorological standard for summer requires a rolling average temperature of 22°C or higher over five consecutive days. Currently, only the daily maximum temperatures have exceeded this threshold. The city's average date for the start of summer is mid-April.
