Typhoon Saudel, the 18th typhoon of the year, has weakened into a tropical depression after making landfall and moving further inland, but its remnants continue to bring heavy rainfall across Guangdong Province.
According to the Guangdong Meteorological Service, the residual cloud system from Saudel will move south along the border between Guangdong and the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, with wet weather continuing over the province from August 31 through September 1.
By September 2, another weather system over the South China Sea will bring heavy rain to eastern Guangdong, with localized torrential downpours.

Additionally, strong storm activity over Guangdong's coastal waters and the northern South China Sea is expected to bring localized gales of up to Force 8 in the coming days.

September 1: Heavy rain with localized downpours in Meizhou and eastern Guangdong; moderate rain with localized heavy rain in Heyuan and the central and southern Pearl River Delta; scattered showers in the remaining areas.
September 2: Heavy rain with localized downpours in Meizhou and eastern Guangdong; thunderstorms with localized heavy rain elsewhere.
