Typhoon Tapah hits Guangdong, partial road closures and rail suspensions imposed

On the morning of September 8, Typhoon Tapah, the 16th typhoon of the year, made landfall along the coast of Taishan, Guangdong. Affected areas have imposed temporary traffic control on three routes: the Western Coastal Expressway, the Huangmao Sea Channel Bridge, and the Hailing Island Bridge on the Yangjiang-Maoming Expressway. Meanwhile, all train services on the Shenzhen-Zhanjiang and Guangzhou-Maoming railways have been suspended.

As of 3:00 p.m. on September 8, traffic restrictions imposed in response to Typhoon Tapah on the three affected road sections were lifted, with traffic flow restored to normal conditions.

Meanwhile, passenger ferry services across the Qiongzhou Strait resumed operations at 5:00 p.m., prioritizing green-channel vehicles and emergency supply transports.

All trains on the Shenzhen-Zhanjiang and Guangzhou-Maoming railways were suspended on September 8, with gradual resumption scheduled for September 9. In addition, due to the suspension of Guangdong-Hainan ferry services, cross-sea trains to and from Hainan Island on September 8 were either canceled or rerouted to Guangzhou Baiyun Station.

Passengers holding tickets for suspended trains may apply for a full refund within 30 days (including the day of travel) at ticket windows nationwide or via the 12306 website (APP). No service fee will be charged.
