Strong convective weather to hit Guangdong during Qingming holiday

Guangdong will experience another round of strong convective weather during the upcoming Qingming Festival holiday, with heavy to torrential rainfall forecast across the province, local meteorological authorities said.

The current flood season in Guangdong has already begun and will last through September. The latest round of storms expected from April 3 to 6 will bring short-term strong winds of force 8 to 10, with intense rainfall and possible hail. As such weather is often localized and fast-changing, the public is advised to closely follow official weather updates.

From April 3 to 4, central and northern Guangdong will see heavy to torrential rain, while southern areas will experience thunderstorms with localized downpours. Most areas may also be affected by strong winds, short-duration of heavy rainfall, and isolated hail. Rainfall in central and northern regions is expected to ease during the daytime on April 4.

On April 5, heavy to torrential rain will affect northern Guangdong and the Pearl River Delta, with some areas experiencing severe downpours, while the rest of the province will see showers or thunderstorms.
