Typhoon activity has been frequent recently, with three typhoons potentially affecting Guangdong. Typhoon Narra, the 19th typhoon of the year, is expected to gradually approach the coastal areas from Guangxi to the west of the Leizhou Peninsula. Typhoon Gaenari, the 20th typhoon of the year, may bring rain and strong winds to eastern Guangdong in the coming days, while Typhoon Saudel, the 18th typhoon of the year, could also affect the region at a later stage. Meanwhile, a tropical depression is active over the northwest Pacific and could develop into another typhoon. If it officially forms, four tropical systems could be active over the sea at the same time, leaving Guangdong under the influence of multiple typhoons.
Weather Forecast
On August 24–25, the Leizhou Peninsula, Heyuan, Meizhou and cities and counties in eastern Guangdong will see heavy to torrential rain, with locally extremely heavy rain. Strong winds are also expected over the Leizhou Peninsula and the Beibu Gulf.
Specifically, on August 24, the Leizhou Peninsula and eastern and northern Guangdong will see heavy to torrential rain, with locally extremely heavy rain. Most parts of the Pearl River Delta will see heavy rain, with locally torrential rain, while other areas will experience showers or thunderstorms, with locally heavy rain. Highs will range from 28°C to 31°C in southern Guangdong, Heyuan and Meizhou, and from 31°C to 34°C elsewhere.
On August 25, western Guangdong, the Pearl River Delta and Qingyuan will see heavy to torrential rain, with locally extremely heavy rain. Other areas will see moderate rain, with locally heavy or torrential rain. Highs across most of Guangdong will range from 28°C to 33°C.
On August 26, western Guangdong and western parts of the Pearl River Delta will see heavy rain, with locally torrential or extremely heavy rain. Other areas will be cloudy to overcast, with showers or thunderstorms and locally heavy to torrential rain. Highs will range from 28°C to 31°C in western Guangdong and western parts of the Pearl River Delta, and from 31°C to 33°C elsewhere.
