Rainfall is expected to increase across southern China from August 17.
Over the next few days, Yunnan and other regions in southern China are expected to see the brunt of the intense rainfall nationwide. Some coastal areas in southern Guangdong and neighboring regions may receive more than 250 mm of accumulated rain, bringing risks of flooding and other hazards.

Meanwhile, hot and humid conditions will gradually spread northward.
Hot weather is expected to become more widespread across southern China, the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River and the Huang-Huai region.
Although temperatures may stay below 35°C in some areas, highs of around 33°C and lows of around 25°C will still be common. Combined with high humidity, the weather will feel very hot and muggy, with the heat index possibly exceeding 40°C in some areas.
In Guangdong, most areas will continue to see thunderstorms on August 17, with localized heavy downpours. Highs will reach around 35°C in some areas.

Rainfall will intensify on August 18 and 19, with moderate to heavy rain and localized torrential downpours expected in parts of Guangdong.
On August 17, most of Guangdong will see showers or thunderstorms due to a weak weather system, with locally heavy rain. Some cities and counties will see highs of around 35°C.
On August 18 and 19, stronger easterly winds will bring moderate to heavy rain to Guangdong, with locally heavy downpours.
