In recent years, trade between Guangdong and France has grown steadily, reaching 112.7 billion RMB in 2024—accounting for one-fifth of total China-France trade.

Just two weeks ago, the China (Guangdong)-France Economic and Trade Cooperation Conference was successfully held in Paris, underscoring the strong interest of the French business community in deepening ties with Guangdong.

“While 2024 was an exceptional year, marked by the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between France and China,” said Sylvain FOURRIERE, Consul General of France in Guangzhou, during his opening remarks, “the new cycle beginning in 2025 is already shaping up to be very promising.”

FOURRIERE described 2025 as “a year of intense activity on all fronts.” He expressed hope for even closer cooperation between France and South China in arts, culture, academic and scientific exchanges—and especially in the economic sphere.

The Consul General also emphasized the depth and continuity of the political dialogue between China and France.

“Not a month goes by without senior figures traveling between France and China,” said FOURRIERE.

Tan echoed that sentiment, noting, “Guangdong stands ready to further strengthen exchanges at all levels and deepen cooperation across sectors with our French partners.”
