Yuexiu District in Guangzhou opened Coffee Culture Week on May 20, a highlight of the 2026 Guangzhou Coffee Culture Fair, bringing together specialty coffee, live music, open-air films, cultural and creative products, and charitable activities.

The event runs through May 24, with a free public coffee market open daily from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Folk and acoustic performances are staged every afternoon, and outdoor film screenings begin after sunset. Visitors who donate five used books at the event can receive coffee discounts.
Known as one of Guangzhou's most vibrant coffee districts, Yuexiu is home to a growing number of specialty cafés tucked inside commercial buildings, around historic Western-style houses, beneath neighborhood trees, and beside old arcades. At the opening ceremony, Yuexiu District unveiled its first 12 signature coffee-themed communities, including Yushan Community and Baiyun Community near Beijing Road and the Huanshi East commercial area, as well as the historic Xinhepu Community.

To help visitors explore the area's coffee culture, organizers also released a coffee-themed city walk map covering more than 30 specialty cafés in Yuexiu's Dongshan area. The route runs from Dongshankou to Dongshan Lake Park and takes in popular streets including Miaoqian West Street, Miaoqian Straight Street, Xuguyuan Road, and Donghua East Road.

On the same day, Yuexiu District partnered with Dianping, a popular review platform in China, to launch a local café ranking and a three-month online check-in campaign. From now until July 30, users can search for "Coffee-flavored Yuexiu" (咖味越秀) on the Dianping app to access a digital guide to cafés across the district. Participants who check in at cafés or post themed reviews online can enter prize draws for coffee-themed gifts and vouchers.
From May to July, all 18 subdistricts in Yuexiu will host coffee-themed activities. Upcoming highlights include the "Time-Travel Coffee" event at Yuexiu Park in late May, where Song Dynasty-style tea preparation will meet modern latte art, and the third "Romantic" Coffee Culture event at Huanshi East Plaza in early July.
