Dragon Boat Festival: Underwater dragon dance and ocean wonders await in Guangzhou

As the Dragon Boat Festival draws near, Guangzhou's Grandview Mall is launching a vibrant holiday programme across its "six venues and one pedestrian street," featuring cultural performances, animal interactions, themed sports, and immersive entertainment experiences. Special holiday offers include exclusive dual-attraction tickets for high school entrance exam and Gaokao takers, early-bird two-person packages for the aquarium, and discounted children's tickets across key venues.

At the Grandview Aquarium, the ancient intangible cultural heritage "Dragon Dance" takes on a new form underwater. During the holiday, the new underwater show "Dunhuang Apsaras: Dragon Soaring into the Sea" will debut, blending traditional dragon dance with Dunhuang-inspired visual aesthetics. A golden dragon glides through schools of fish in a surreal underwater performance, creating a cross-temporal cultural spectacle. Popular shows such as "Qingbai Romance" and "Mermaid Mirage" will run as usual, while interactive performances, including "Wings of Water" and "Underwater Flower Fairy," will invite visitors into a dreamlike ocean world.

Across the wider complex, Grandview Mall's Anime Carnival brings surprise character appearances, with roaming cosplayers and NPC interactions across the aquarium, rainforest park, and snow world. Visitors can complete mini-games to earn "dimension coins" and redeem themed gifts. A cyber-style cultural fair also merges traditional aesthetics with futuristic performances, including stage shows featuring modernized Hanfu and Lolita-inspired costumes.

At the Grandview Rainforest, visitors can take part in the traditional game "Shoot the Five Poisons" and enjoy interactive zongzi-making sessions alongside the park’s rainforest animals, who will also receive custom-made festival treats. Educational exhibitions on insects and ferns further enrich the experience. The Grandview Aquarium will also host a special activity where visitors make zongzi for Arctic foxes.

The ice-themed venues offer more holiday excitement with a festive ice sports carnival. Visitors can try snow football and ice frisbee, refreshing summer activities perfect for the Dragon Boat Festival.
