On August 17, the Qingyuan venue of the 2025 Southern China Book Fair will host a themed sharing session titled "The Big and Small in History," featuring a face-to-face exchange with renowned Chinese writer Ma Boyong.
Ma Boyong is a contemporary Chinese writer, screenwriter, and member of the China Writers Association. He has received honors such as the "People's Literature Award" and the "Zhu Ziqing Prose Award." Known for exploring "historical possibilities" in his works, Ma has captivated readers with acclaimed titles such as "The Litchi Road" (《长安的荔枝》), "The Longest Day in Chang'an" (《长安十二时辰》), and "Everything is Fine" (《桃花源没事儿》).
Recognized for "telling stories in the gaps of history," Ma Boyong excels at weaving grand historical narratives through the lens of ordinary people and minor events. His humorous and insightful writing bridges the vast arc of history with individual destinies, embodying the storytelling wisdom of "seeing the big from the small."
At this event, Ma Boyong will share insights into the relationships between individuals and their historical eras, guiding readers to explore the "small but beautiful" stories hidden within grand narratives.
