The 5th World Cantonese Community Conference will be held in Zhuji Alley for the first time.
Zhuji Alley in Nanxiong, Shaoguan, is widely recognized as an important historical origin of the Cantonese lineage. More than 180 surnames can be traced to this area, with an estimated 70 to 80 million descendants now living across five continents.
After recent restoration works, the 1.5-kilometer alley—featuring ancestral halls and historic buildings—has been developed as a site for cultural heritage display and "root-seeking" visits by overseas Cantonese communities.
