A cozy evening awaits music lovers in Shekou on Tuesday (Dec. 9), offering a rare chance to step into the world of traditional Chinese wind instruments.
The evening session at the Shekou Foreign Legal Assistance Center will introduce the xiao, dizi and hulusi, three instruments whose sounds have shaped ancient Chinese musical culture. The xiao is a vertical end-blown flute with a simple yet elegant construction, while the dizi is a transverse bamboo flute prized for its bright, penetrating voice. The hulusi, with a gourd wind-chamber, produces warm, reed-like tones.
