What if you could dance to electronic beats with one of China's most recognizable city skylines right behind the stage? That is the experience the Canton Tower Music Festival is bringing to Guangzhou on Aug. 22-23, when electronic music, dazzling visuals and the city's nighttime skyline come together beneath the iconic Canton Tower.

The two-day festival will feature 14 electronic music acts from China and abroad, including internationally known artists Pendulum, Innellea, Sam Paganini and Delta Heavy. The lineup covers a range of electronic genres, from house and techno to trance and drum & bass.
The music will shift over the weekend. The Aug. 22 lineup will lean toward house music, setting a more relaxed and laid-back mood. The following day will turn up the energy with faster-paced sounds including trance, techno and drum & bass.
But music is only part of the attraction. The festival's stage has been designed around the concept of a "City Window." The stage will use open and transparent LED screens framing Guangzhou's central axis and the illuminated Zhujiang New Town skyline, with the iconic Canton Tower serving as the core backdrop of the whole performance.
In other words, the city itself becomes part of the show. The setting gives the festival a distinctly urban character: international electronic music playing against the backdrop of one of Guangzhou's busiest and most recognizable cityscapes, with the Pearl River and Canton Tower adding to the nighttime atmosphere.
The event is also notable for bringing a major outdoor electronic music experience into the heart of Guangzhou's CBD, rather than placing it on the outskirts of the city.
For the Canton Tower tourism area, the festival is more than just a night of music; it's also part of a broader effort to create new ways for visitors to experience the landmark. Instead of simply coming to Canton Tower to admire the view, visitors can now experience the landmark through music, performances, technology and nighttime entertainment.
The festival has already attracted considerable interest. Two-day passes for the festival have sold out, while single-day tickets remain on sale through online ticketing platforms including ShowStart, Trip.com and Yuyuan.
So if you're in Guangzhou on Aug. 22-23, come to Canton Tower, turn up the volume and experience the city after dark. This is a chance to experience the city from a different angle, with world-class electronic music in your ears, the Pearl River skyline in front of you and Canton Tower glowing above it all.
