Recently, a "Champion Dragon Boat" was raised from the bed of a canal in Xijiao Village (西滘村), Doumen, Zhuhai. Made of ironwood, it is among the earliest surviving wooden dragon boats in Zhuhai. It once served as a training boat for local athletes who represented China at the Second World Dragon Boat Racing Championships in 1997, achieving remarkable results.
The Dragon Boat Awakening Ceremony in Xijiao Village officially opened the 2026 Zhuhai Doumen Dragon Boat Cultural Month, marking the start of a comprehensive event of dragon boat cultural and sporting activities.
