Lanterns, flowers, and Cantonese Opera revive Lingnan's festive charm in Zhuhai

The Tangjia Ancient Town in the Zhuhai Hi-Tech Zone has hosted a special Chinese New Year celebration. From February 7, a "Shared Joy Lantern Festival" and a "Tang Wonder Fair" offer visitors a mix of traditional and modern festivities.

The lantern displays, designed by craftsmen from Sichuan, blend classical garden scenery with themes from ancient Chinese mythology. Nightly performances include traditional "iron flower" fireworks and dance shows.

Couples enjoyed free entry and a special "romantic confession wall" on February 14, Valentine's Day. Adding cultural depth, a Cantonese opera performance was staged at a local theater on that day.

A spring market with over 40 stalls selling flowers and local goods will run until February 16.

The event aims to showcase Lingnan's unique New Year traditions.
