A short web series produced by a local team in Gaozhou, Maoming City, Guangdong Province, has received two nominations at the 4th Hong Kong Bauhinia International Film Festival.

Lychee Hometown New Dream was shortlisted for Best Director and Best Actress in the festival's short film category, according to the organizers.
The series was filmed in Tandi Village, Sishui Town, and follows a young person who returns home to take over the family lychee business. The story focuses on how new media and e-commerce are used to help build a local brand and engage other villagers. Scenes feature centuries-old lychee trees and rural landscapes in Guangdong. Residents participated in the production.

Tandi Village has been promoted by Gaozhou as a demonstration site for rural-themed short web series. Nearly 200 film crews have worked in the village, creating new income sources. Local authorities say the industry has generated more than five million yuan in revenue, increased collective village income by 40%, and raised the average annual income per resident to 52,000 yuan.

Villager Wang Youxiang said residents can now participate in filming, run guesthouses, and sell local products without leaving the village.
