On September 17, the new Dianbai Library in Maoming began its trial operation, offering tens of thousands of books to readers across categories such as literature, history, science and technology, and children's books. Many citizens visited to read, with areas like the parent-child zone and smart device experience area especially packed with visitors on weekends.
Boasting a total construction area of 20,000 square meters, the new library has a designed collection capacity of 1.35 million volumes. Currently, it houses 450,000 physical books and 200,000 e-books, with a maximum daily reception capacity of 10,000 visitors.
As a pilot project for smart library construction in Guangdong Province, its "technological vibe" stands out as a key highlight.
Equipped with an intelligent management system, the new library enables fully automated operations for processes like book borrowing and returning. It features multiple technology-themed spaces, including a 3D interactive hall, a VR experience zone, and AI painting screens. Using these advanced devices, readers can immerse themselves in the world of books, significantly enhancing their reading experience.
The "Growth Reading Area" is specifically designed for young children. Functional zones such as the parent-child reading corner and picture book exhibition have been well-received by many visitors.
Notably, the library has set up reading seats along the windows. While reading, patrons can enjoy a panoramic view of the Shuidong Bay Mangrove Wetland and the urban-rural skyline along both sides of the bay.
