It is believed that ancestors of the Cantonese people moved from Zhuji Alley, located in a northern, mountainous area of Guangdong, to the Pearl River Delta region hundreds of years ago and from there, embarked on worldwide migration.
The Shaoguan conference is regarded as the largest and most prestigious cultural gathering of Cantonese people internationally.
As part of this year's event, 10 outstanding Cantonese youth representatives from around the world have been announced.
