Liannan Yao intangible cultural heritage show opens at Qingyuan Chimelong

The Liannan Yao intangible cultural heritage show, a grand intangible cultural heritage event, is agoing at the Bugs Buddy Theater in Qingyuan Chimelong. The show which opened recently will run daily until August 21, with two to three performances each day, offering tourists a truly unique experience of Yao ethnic culture during the summer vacation.

The performance showcases multiple intangible cultural heritages of the Yao ethnic group: the "Shuagetang Songfest of Yao Minority" (a traditional Yao song-and-dance gathering, inscribed on the national intangible cultural heritage list in 2006), the Long Drum Dance (hailed as the "living fossil of Yao culture" and recognized as a national intangible cultural heritage in 2008), as well as Yao ethnic embroidery and Pai Yao folk songs (listed as Guangdong Provincial intangible cultural heritage).

The Guangdong Liannan National Song and Dance Troupe has infused new life into traditional culture through elaborate performances and innovative interactions. At the event, A'Gui Ge (unmarried Yao young men) and Shayao Mei (unmarried Yao young women), dressed in splendid costumes, captivated the audience with their soaring leaps and spins in the dynamic Long Drum Dance. There are also interactive sessions where tourists can learn the Long Drum Dance and Pai Yao folk songs under the guidance of professional performers. Laughter and applause ripple through the theater, making each show a vibrant cultural exchange.
