Huizhou blends heritage with pop culture to boost cultural tourism

Recently, Huizhou's Huidong County kicked off the 2025 Intangible Cultural Heritage & Trendy Toy Promotion Season, bringing together beloved pop culture toy brands and traditional cultural experiences in a vibrant celebration.

The event featured Intangible Cultural Heritage Games and a creative toy market, where visitors could immerse themselves in hands-on heritage activities while exploring Huidong's fresh take on culture and tourism.

Blessed with rich cultural traditions and stunning coastal scenery, Huidong launched a set of 23 exquisitely designed pins that blend the natural and historical charm of 15 iconic sites. These include Delta Island, Tin Hau Temple, and Sea Turtle Bay, among others. It also showcases eight representative intangible heritage treasures such as Huidong fishing songs, Mazu folk customs, and the Lantern Festival dragon dance.

At Xunliao Bay Sea World, a three-day Sunset Concert combined tradition with trend, creating a feast for the senses. Carefully designed cultural-tourism routes linked nearby guesthouses, restaurants, and historical landmarks, encouraging visitors to explore beyond the festival grounds, discover hidden coastal gems, and experience Huidong's charm through its flavors, stories, and scenic beauty.
