Huizhou's GDP grows 5.1% in first half of 2025

Huizhou's economy showed steady growth in the first half of 2025, with its Gross Domestic Product (GDP) reaching 291.006 billion yuan, marking a year-on-year increase of 5.1%, according to recently released economic data.

The city's primary industry recorded an added value of 13.262 billion yuan, growing by 4.1%. Growth was significantly driven by the secondary industry, which expanded by 7.7% to 153.687 billion yuan. The tertiary sector increased by 2.3%, reaching 124.057 billion yuan.

Industrial production emerged as a key highlight, with value-added output from industrial enterprises above the designated size rising by 11.2%. Key specialty sectors showed strong performance: the electronics industry led with 15.7% growth, followed by life and health manufacturing at 13.6%. The petrochemical, energy, and new materials sectors posted a combined growth of 5.4%, including a 4.5% rise in petrochemicals, 6.9% in energy, and 6.4% in new materials manufacturing.

The consumer market demonstrated a positive recovery trend. Total retail sales of consumer goods rose by 5.5% year-on-year to 103.865 billion yuan, accelerating by 1.5 percentage points compared to the first quarter.

Foreign trade also registered strong growth, with total import and export volume increasing by 6.9% to 197.988 billion yuan. Exports grew by 6.8% to 111.109 billion yuan, while imports increased by 6.9% to 86.879 billion yuan.
