The Huadian Yangjiang Sanshandao VI Offshore Wind Power Project has officially commenced full-scale construction following the successful installation of its first wind turbine on April 9. This project is currently the farthest offshore wind farm under construction in China, in terms of distance from shore. It is also the first among Guangdong Province's initial batch of competitively allocated offshore wind projects to reach this stage.

The project is located in the southern waters of Hailing Island, Yangjiang City, Guangdong Province. It has a total installed capacity of 500,000 kilowatts (500 MW), covering a wind farm area of 54 square kilometers. Water depths range from 46 to 50 meters, with the site center situated 82 kilometers from land and the farthest point reaching 89 kilometers offshore.

The project will install 31 wind turbine units, each with a capacity of 16.2 megawatts, marking China's first large-scale deployment of this turbine model. Leveraging big data and intelligent algorithms, the wind farm will enable smart condition monitoring, intelligent fault diagnosis, and coordinated operations and maintenance. These technologies are expected to increase power generation by 1-2%, reduce the overall fault rate by 20%, and boost the wind farm's revenue by 5-10%.

Once completed, the project will generate approximately 1.6 billion kilowatt-hours of clean electricity annually, enough to meet the yearly household electricity needs of about 700,000 households. This is equivalent to saving over 500,000 metric tons of standard coal and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 1.26 million metric tons, significantly contributing to the optimization of the energy structure in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

The full-scale construction of the Sanshandao VI Project marks a significant milestone for China Huadian's Guangdong operations in advancing national strategies, staying true to China Huadian's brand positioning of "providing clean energy, creating a better life", and expanding investment in deep-sea offshore wind power. Moving forward, the company will continue to promote the standardized and orderly construction of offshore wind power.
