From January to April 2026, Meizhou's total import and export value reached 4.22 billion yuan, up 48.5% year on year, according to statistics from Shantou Customs.
Exports totaled 2.70 billion yuan, up 27.3% year on year, while imports jumped by 110.8% to 1.52 billion yuan. In April alone, the city's foreign trade reached 1.11 billion yuan, up 60.9% year on year. Exports rose by 70.7% year on year to 910 million yuan, while imports increased by 28.5% year on year to 200 million yuan.
Exports of electromechanical products maintained strong growth, reaching 1.88 billion yuan, up 33.9% and accounting for 69.5% of total exports. Among them, exports of lithium-ion batteries soared 223.8 times to 350 million yuan, while exports of agricultural products rose by 39.6% to 29.881 million yuan.
Crude oil imports reached 830 million yuan, compared with no imports in the same period last year, becoming the main driver of import growth and accounting for 54.6% of total imports. Coal and lignite imports rose 45.1% to 180 million yuan, accounting for 11.9% of total imports. Imports of electromechanical products reached 170 million yuan, accounting for 11% of the total.
