"Paper Gold" boosts Maoming's aquatic products in expanding global markets

Data from Maoming Customs shows that from January to October this year, it issued 7,168 Certificates of Origin (COs) for local enterprises, covering an export value of approximately 2.54 billion yuan, with year-on-year growth rates of 16.1% and 9.2%, respectively. Among these, 1,937 COs were issued for frozen aquatic products, involving a value of 630 million yuan, representing increases of 121.1% and 114.8%.

Known as "Paper Gold," COs serve as a key document for enterprises to enjoy tariff preferences on exported goods. Since the beginning of this year, Maoming Customs has focused on the city's key industries, continuously optimizing services for exporting COs. It has helped local enterprises fully utilize preferential trade agreements such as RCEP and ASEAN and further advanced the "intelligent verification + self-service printing" model to streamline handling procedures for enterprises.

Ma Weixiong, Manager of Guangdong Global Aquatic Products Co., Ltd., stated that the company has received more orders this year and successfully explored new markets in countries including Thailand, Vietnam, and India. The application for preferential tariff COs has brought tangible benefits to the enterprise.

Maoming Customs has also organized policy briefings on free trade agreement COs, conducted targeted surveys on enterprises' export products and target countries, and provided real-time answers to enterprises' questions regarding the application of CO rules, effectively supporting them in expanding into emerging markets in Southeast Asia, Africa, and Latin America.
