South China's Guangdong to add 6 inbound duty-free shops

Guangdong, one of China's leading tourism destinations and a top performer in the country's inbound tourism rankings for years, has announced plans to add 6 more inbound duty-free shops and suspend services at 2 existing shops, according to a notice issued on January 21.

The 6 new inbound duty-free shops will be located at Nansha International Cruise Home Port and Pazhou Ferry Terminal in Guangzhou, Liantang Port and Shenzhen Bay Port in Shenzhen, Qingmao Port in Zhuhai, and Hengqin Port in the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone.

Shops at Jieyang Chaoshan International Airport in eastern Guangdong, the Shekou Cruise Center in Shenzhen, Zhongshan Port in Zhongshan, and Nansha Port in Guangzhou will continue to provide services.

Shops at Guangzhou East Railway Station and Jiangmen Port will cease operations.

Inbound duty-free shops at ports are retail outlets located within the restricted areas of airports, seaports, or land ports open to international travelers and are authorized to sell duty-free goods to inbound visitors in accordance with regulations. The new establishments are expected to further facilitate duty-free shopping for inbound travelers.

After the establishment of the inbound duty-free shop at Hengqin Port, inbound Macao resident travelers will be allowed to purchase a certain amount of duty-free goods at the shop, with a maximum value of 15,000 yuan.
