Nearly 100 international buyers arrived at Jieyang Chaoshan International Airport on a charter flight from Yiwu on August 17, to attend the launch ceremony of the Shantou Intimate Garment Market and participate in on-site sourcing and business-matching activities in Shantou.
These buyers came from various countries and regions, including Pakistan, India, Nigeria and Morocco, and had long been engaged in international textile trade in Yiwu. In addition to the nearly 100 buyers arriving on the charter flight, multiple groups of international buyers, arranged by the organizers, traveled to Shantou by high-speed rail and dedicated vehicles, bringing the total number of invited overseas buyers to more than 300.
The market officially opened on August 18. The 2026 Shantou (A/W) Underwear Procurement Festival, an industry development conference, and "Underwear Creator Night" were held simultaneously, bringing together activities focused on international trade, domestic sales and online promotion. International buyers viewed products, held business negotiations and reached procurement agreements on site.
Li Chen, vice president of the Shantou Textile & Garment Industry Association, said: "We see the opening of the Shantou Intimate Garment Market as an opportunity to facilitate business connections between the two cities. Our goal is to enable Yiwu buyers to connect directly with source manufacturers, reduce costs and improve efficiency. Going forward, we will also draw on Yiwu's experience in logistics and warehousing, cross-border trade and business services to develop a distinctive industrial model for Shantou. This model will allow us to bring Shantou's textile and apparel products to markets both at home and abroad and onto the global stage."
