Chaozhou's Lao Xiang Huang, an aged preserve made from Buddha's hand citron using a centuries-old technique, combines traditional craftsmanship with modern production lines. With U.S. FDA registration, UK BRC certification and international halal certification, it is steadily expanding its global reach.

Zhanjiang's Xuwen pineapples are also entering overseas markets. On July 21, a 10.08-tonne shipment to the UK marked the fruit's entry into Europe. In the first quarter of 2026, exports reached 280 tonnes to nine countries and regions. Processed products, including pineapple cakes, canned pineapples and pineapple brandy, are further broadening the industry's global footprint.

Behind this global rise is Guangdong's push to modernize agriculture. Digital tools, geographical indication protection, deep processing and branding are adding value to local produce which is now reaching more world markets.
